Opportunity:
The Nation Media Group is the largest independent media house in East and Central Africa with operations in print,
broadcast and digital media. It attracts and serves unparalleled audiences in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and
Rwanda. This program runs for 3 months, with an opportunity to get practical experience in a work environment.

Educational/Professional Requirements
• Candidate must already be enrolled in college or university to be considered.
• Candidate must currently be enrolled as a student in a public or accredited private institution.
• The candidate is expected to specify the department of interest.
General Requirements
The candidate:
• Should have a desire and passion to gain professional experience.
• Must be eager to learn.
• Must have oral and written communication skills.
• Must have the ability to follow directions, as well as not be afraid to ask questions.
• Must be a fast learner, committed, able to follow instructions, work quickly and accurately under pressure.

The internship runs for three months with possibility of extension/permanent employment hire.

Hivos Kenya Intern Opportunity 2011- Media and Communication ABPP
Hivos Kenya is looking for an intern to support the Africa Biogas Partnership Programme (ABPP) Team.
ABPP aims to establish a domestic biogas sector in six African countries: Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Kenya, Senegal, Tanzania and Uganda.
In each country a local (government) agency is in charge of programme implementation and partnerships have been created with governments, NGOs, micro-finance and vocational training institutions and other organisations.
The ABPP started mid 2009 and at the end of 2010, production of biogas plants is at a sufficient level to promote the programme more widely. A website and logo is currently being developed by a professional company.
The ABPP team does not have sufficient capacity to generate content for this website. The intern media and communication will be supporting the ABPP team in generating content (text, images, data) for its website.
Specific tasks and responsibilities will be agreed with the candidate depending on skills and training needs.

The ideal candidate will play a key role in marketing and executing educational programs and facilitating client service programs.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the position is responsible for the following.

Marketing role
- Design and implement an annual marketing plan in collaboration with the Executive Director.
- Network with stake-holders, such as schools, colleges, universities etc, in order to keep abreast with all industry developments and institutional functions and events.
- Oversee the production of marketing materials like posters, newsletters, brochures etc.
- Organize and attending events such as seminars, and institutional events.
- Maintain and develop existing and new customers through appropriate propositions and ethical sales methods, with due regard to Company targets and projections.
Administrative role
- Work with the office to design and implement a client contact system.
- Administer online career tests (assessments).
- Review career test results with clients on an individual or group basis.
- Update and maintain client contact database.
- Collect feedback from clients, ensure their satisfaction and communicate their recommendations and complaints to the CEO.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Psychology or Education
- Diploma in Marketing will be an added advantage
Requisite Competencies
- Strong flair for Marketing
- Excellent in planning and organizing
- Superior written and oral communication skills, very articulate.
- Result driven and oriented
- Be able to work with minimum supervision
- Extremely confident, dynamic and energetic
- Good computer skills in MS Excel, Word and use of the Internet
Remuneration
This is a new position, and will be incepted as a three month internship during which period, the candidate will be on probation. Upon confirmation, salary will be commensurate with demonstrable hard work, ambition, willingness to grow professionally and ability to sell the tests.
